Women ‘will go abroad despite bill’

Pro-choice activists have claimed Irish women will still travel to England for abortions despite the Government’s high-profile abortion bill.

Women ‘will go abroad despite bill’

The claim is based on section 13 of the bill, titled “travel and information”, which it is alleged has been inserted so more extensive legislation does not need to be drawn up.

The section makes it clear the proposed act “does not limit freedom to travel between the State and another state” for information or services that would be considered illegal in Ireland.
