The bereaved parents of an air corps cadet have been asked by Defence Minister Alan Shatter to set out the reasons why they believe their son’s death has been the subject of a cover-up.

Mr Shatter wrote to Donal and Liz Jevens this week and said he has asked officials to inquire into the claims that the background to Cadet David Jevens’ death has been suppressed.

Cmdt Jevens, 21, died when the jet he and his instructor, Capt Derek Furniss, were flying crashed near Lough Mask in Oct 2009.
