Public sector jobs may be at risk

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said yesterday that public sector workers would no longer be guaranteed job security following rejection of the Croke Park II deal.

The Government was accused of ramming through spending estimates on public sector pay and of sneaking in built-in pay cuts for public service workers.

Mr Kenny defended efforts to pass spending estimates for the public service, saying it was to ensure workers would be paid next week and services would continue to operate.
