Contactless payments a hit with retailers and consumers

About 6,000 contactless payment terminals have been installed in Ireland, allowing consumers to pay with a wave of a card rather than having to key in a pin or sign a piece of paper.

Sage — Ireland’s largest provider of retail and web payment solutions — have installed about 6,000 machines as the new payment method begins to take root here. In Britain, more than 143,000 card machines have been installed.

Retailers using contactless payment systems include Musgrave, Spar, Centra, and Costcutter.
