Talk of budget tax cuts dismissed by ministers

Speculation about possible tax cuts in October’s budget has been dismissed by the Government, as the process of deciding on next year’s spending and saving has yet to formally begin.

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said there were more than five months to Budget 2014 and that talk about next year’s estimates was “purely speculative”.

It has been reported that the Government is planning a major concession for middle-income taxpayers in October, possibly on the tax side.
