Council warns against bogus surveyors

Cork County Council has warned householders to be on alert in case bogus callers try and enter properties on the pretence they’re surveying them for the installation of new water meters.

Council warns against bogus surveyors

The council issued the warning as it prepares to send out officials on a major survey of water connections. This information will then be passed onto Irish Water, which will use it when it starts installing domestic water meters.

A council spokesman said its staff do not need access to homes: “If somebody claiming to be part of the survey team tries to gain access to your home or property do not give them access and immediately contact the gardaí.”
