The Victim: ‘I would have been dead’

WHEN Kate* agreed to tell her story, she thought she’d be doing so as a survivor of domestic violence who had put her shattered confidence back together and moved on.

Then her ex-husband arrived at the door on Easter Sunday and within minutes, it was as if none of the three years they’d been apart had ever happened.

He wanted to take their young daughter out and Kate, mindful of the freezing weather, got a pair of tights for the little girl to wear under her trousers.
