Young teachers feel ‘betrayed’ by Government

Young teachers are being “betrayed” by the Government’s recession-era policies which are forcing them into undignified working arrangements and onto the emigration boat.

That was the claim of Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland president Gerry Breslin during his official address to more than 500 delegates at the conference yesterday.

With Education Minister Ruairi Quinn watching on, the union leader hit out with a withering attack on the Coalition’s plans for the sector.
