Gardaí take drunk Quinn Jr from train
Garda sources confirmed Seán Quinn Jr was on a train travelling from Westport, Co Mayo, to Dublin on Sunday but was removed by gardaí in Tullamore, Co Offaly, at about 3pm.
He was believed to have been intoxicated and annoying other passengers, at least one of whom complained to a member of train staff.
As a result, gardaí were called. He was given an “adult caution” at the station and was free to go. Mr Quinn Jr apologised to gardaí and to staff at the station for his behaviour. Garda sources also said he rang rail staff and apologised.
An adult caution is used as an alternative to prosecuting adults for certain minor criminal offences.
It is normally used in cases where a Garda superintendent believes it is not in the public interest to prosecute.
Mr Quinn Jr could not be contacted for comment.
