Conditions being set to enable Government say ‘the plan has worked’

The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will hold a joint event today to announce, according to a press notice, that “the plan is working” — in other words — a pat on the back for their achievements as they approach their second anniversary in office.

But the positive mood music coming from the Coalition following the recent series of announcements on banking, debt repayments, and the economy is out of tune with the less than celebratory tone of the public.

A host of opinion polls in recent weeks have shown no boost for Fine Gael or Labour.
