A production by the Everyman theatre and Cork Operatic Society has secured the Best Opera prize in the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards.

Artistic director at the theatre, Michael Barker-Caven, said the production of Pagliacci was the stand-out opera experience of 2012. “This award is a huge endorsement for the outstanding efforts of the entire team, cast, and crew,” he said.

“The city of Cork can be proud that this level of locally generated artistry and invention has been recognised in this way. Above all, we are grateful to our audience who did so much to help create such a joyously realised occasion.”
