Shock as ex-footballer passes away

The tragic death of ex-Gaeltacht footballer Tomás Ó Conchúir, 35, of Ballycurrane, whose body was found near Cuas pier on Saturday, cast a dark cloud over the tournament and stunned the area.

Survived by his widow, Ciara, he was one of six brothers to play with An Ghaeltacht and was a member of the club’s team to win the Kerry county championship, in 2001, for the first time.

He also trained under-age and minor teams at the club.
