Shock as ex-footballer passes away
Survived by his widow, Ciara, he was one of six brothers to play with An Ghaeltacht and was a member of the club’s team to win the Kerry county championship, in 2001, for the first time.
He also trained under-age and minor teams at the club.
Recently, he scored the winning goal to help An Ghaeltacht win the West Kerry junior championship.
Extending sympathy to the Ó Conchúir family, Tomás Ó Sé said: “The Ó Conchúirs are the heart and soul of the club and people are deeply shocked by the untimely death of Tomás. He is a huge loss.”
The family indicated, on Saturday, that it would have been Tomás’s wish that the féile peile should continue as scheduled. A minute’s silence was observed before the match between An Ghaeltacht and Claremorris as a mark of respect.
The Gaeltacht team and management also visited St Mary’s Church, Dingle, for private prayers following one of their matches.
