CORK city shoppers were treated to a Valentine’s surprise yesterday as the area outside one of the city's best known jewellery shops was transformed into the ballroom of romance.

Cork shoppers delighted at impromptu ballroom of romance

Hundreds of bemused but delighted onlookers watched on as 30 students from the Cork Dance Studio put on an energetic ballroom dancing performance outside Keanes Jewellers in the city's Oliver Plunkett St.

To celebrate the most romantic day of the year, Keanes Jewellers enlisted the help of the students to bring an air of romance to one of the city's busiest streets.

Patrick Keane of Keanes Jewellers explained: "Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year and one of our busiest times in store, we wanted to celebrate that sentiment by providing a bit of fun and entertainment. We’re embracing the spirit of spontaneity that goes with being in love."

All those who managed to catch a glimpse of the impromptu performance will agree they did just that.
