Dialysis delay as boy’s father ‘did not bring’ device to CUH

A doctor has told an inquest into the death of a young boy that there was a delay in starting dialysis at a hospital as the boy’s father had not brought the dialysis machine with him.

Victor Odeshola, 9, from Garrydhu Drive, Kilmoney, Carrigaline, Co Cork, died at Cork University Hospital (pictured) on Mar 5, 2012.

The boy had been diagnosed with a rare form of kidney disease — the previous year and his condition was being managed by the specialist renal paediatric unit at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin. He was having a type of dialysis at home called peritoneal dialysis on an almost daily basis.
