Singer Nadine ‘would not be torn like McIlroy’

Even though she grew up in Northern Ireland, the 27-year-old said pop beauty said yesterday that she would never feel British.
The singer, who seemed unaware of Rory McIlroy’s Olympic dilemma until yesterday, told the Tubridy Show that she would play under the tricolour if she was faced with the same decision as the world’s No 1 golfer.
She said: “I would call myself Irish. It’s where I would go to. I can’t get away from this Irish accent, I know it’s a Derry accent, but I’m definitely Irish.
“What is his conundrum?” she asked host Ryan Tubridy before he explained the golfer’s much talked about Olympic dilemma.
“I hate controversy but if it was me — and I’m terrible at golf and I try but I’m still terrible — I would play for Ireland, I reckon,” the singer said.
