Up to 300 secondary school students have been using hi-tech driver simulators as part of a safety campaign organised jointly by the gardaí and the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

Students aged 16 and 17, from schools in Mitchelstown, Fermoy, Mallow, Buttevant, Charleville, and Ballincollig have been taking part in a two-day course aimed at showing them what dangers driving cars and motorcycles present.

It was the second major safety programme carried out in Mitchelstown in the last six months by the RSA and gardaí.
