Supermarket owner named Kerry Person of the Year

Well-known businessman Luke Moriarty, owner of the Dublin-based Moriarty Group, which comprises hotels, supermarkets, and property interests, has been named 2013 Kerry Person of the Year by the Kerry Association, in Dublin.

The Killorglin native employs more than 500 in three Dublin SuperValu supermarkets.

He was commended by the selection committee for his approach to business, based on promoting Irish suppliers and contractors, developing staff and mentoring careers, and playing a significant hands-on role in local communities.
