Chambers Ireland, which represents businesses across the country, has joined the campaign to bring in laws to end the exploitation, abuse and trafficking of women and girls by criminalising the buying of sex.

The group, which represents the country’s chambers of commerce, is joining the 63 organisations of the “Turn Off the Red Light” (TORL) campaign which is seeking a change in the law.

Chief executive Ian Talbot said the business community was joining up as they believed the time was right, with Dáil hearings under way.
