Clarkes ‘never set out to deceive’ over son’s death

Celebrity chef Derry Clarke and his wife Sallyanne have been inundated with fresh messages of support after it was revealed their teenage son Andrew had taken his own life just after Christmas.

A family friend said: “People are ringing them and calling up to the house non-stop. It’s a whole new outpouring of sympathy for them. It’s been very touching and helpful for them all, but Sallyanne says her only thoughts at the moment are for Andrew, who is lying in his grave in Mount Jerome cemetery.

“I don’t know if they’re ever going to get over it. And Sallyanne again has insisted that she never intentionally set out to deceive anyone, either friends or people in the media.”
