Car hire firm ‘sorry’ for delay to payment collection

A vice-president at car hire firm Hertz has apologised after the company recently debited the credit cards of Irish customers for payments that should have been processed as far back as July.

Nuns Moodliar said the company “could have done better” when it debited an unknown number of credit card accounts for various amounts before Christmas, and only notified the customers of the charges after the festive period.

Anyone that did receive an invoice was not given any detail as to why they were being charged in relation to a car hire from as far back as the previous summer, with invoices simply stating that the money was for a “Gold Saga Charge”.
