Charges in murder inquiry
The father of two was attacked at Rutland Grove, Crumlin, in Dublin, in May 1988 by a group of men armed with a hatchet.
He was treated in hospital for serious head injuries but never recovered. He died six months later. Two men were jailed in 1989 for their role in the attack.
The case has continued to be investigated since then.
Last night gardaí said a review by officers in Crumlin and the Garda Serious Crime Review Team had yesterday resulted in the arrest in England of a woman, aged 57, on foot of a European arrest warrant.
