Elderly man dies in rush-hour traffic accident

An elderly man was knocked down and killed during rush-hour traffic in Cork last night.

The accident happened on the eastbound stretch of South City Ring Rd between the Sarsfield and Bandon Rd Roundabouts at about 6.30pm.

It is understood the victim, who was in his 70s, was walking west against the flow of eastbound traffic. He was dressed in dark clothing.
