Gardaí are investigating the shooting of a man in Dublin last night.

The 26-year-old victim received gunshot wounds to the arm and leg during the incident which happened at Palmerstown Park in Ronanstown at approximately 6.30pm.

The victim was taken to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown with what gardaí described as non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí said they do not believe the shooting was gang-related and were unable to confirm reports that the victim was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Meanwhile, a man and woman who were being questioned about the murder of Eamon Kelly were released without charge on Saturday night.

The pair had been detained at Clontarf Garda Station in Dublin.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Kelly, 65, from Furry Park Rd, Killester, was gunned down near his home at around 4pm last Tuesday.

The convicted drug dealer, who was sentenced to 14 years in jail in 1993 after being convicted of smuggling cocaine into Ireland from the US, was shot at least three times in the chest.

Four people, three men and one woman, remain in custody.
