Bride returns ‘entirely unsuitable’ wedding band

A bride yesterday returned the wedding band her husband placed on her finger just over a year ago — to the jeweller they bought it from.

In a Dublin courtroom, far removed from the romantic Italian church in which the couple exchanged their vows, the couple counted out the €800 handed to them by a solicitor on behalf of jewellers Noel and Maura Cranks.

Mr Justice Raymond Groarke, the Circuit Court President, had just ruled that the ring the Cranks had sold them in their Wicklow St, Dublin, shop prior to their wedding in July last year was entirely unsuitable as a wedding band.
