Arts and Disability Network (ADN) Cork will run the Culture Club event — the first of its kind in Cork City — aimed at its clients, their friends, and families in the City Limits Comedy Club and Nightclub on Nov 16.

The Cope Foundation is providing specific training to some of its clients who will DJ on the night, and three-piece British band The Fish Police, who performed at the Paralympics pre-show, are set to play.

They will be joined by local musicians including Soundout member Cillian McSweeney and band, as well as musicians from the Cope Foundation and Mayfield arts group.

There will be a chill-out area and an interactive zone with special music videos being screened.

“Doing an event like this is important as it gets adults with intellectual disabilities out and about mixing with other adults, giving a proper nightclub experience at City Limits,” said steering group member Fionnula Clarke.

“There’ll be bands, DJs, VJs, a chill-out space, and outdoors area — wheelchair friendly with something for everyone.”

* Culture Club runs at City Limits from 7pm to midnight on Nov 16. You can books tickets by calling the Everyman 021 4501673 or everymanpalace.com.
