Kenny to hold talks with Merkel

Taoiseach Enda Kenny will hold talks with the German chancellor today for the first time since they caused chaos and confusion over a bank deal on legacy debt.

Mr Kenny’s discussions with Angela Merkel in Berlin are likely to re-examine easing the burden of rescuing lenders.

A spokesman for the Government said the trip was part of the Taoiseach’s continuing engagement with European leaders in the run-up to Ireland’s EU presidency, which starts in January.
