‘If I had a gun, I would shoot you’

When the father of a 6-year-old girl killed in a crash by her drink-driving mother met the woman at a mortuary, she told him: “If I had a gun, I would shoot myself.”

‘If I had a gun, I would shoot you’

As she lay by the body of their dead child, he responded: “If I had a gun, I would do it for you myself.”

Mary Carberry and Thomas Varden’s daughter Ava, and Ava’s friend, Michaela Logan, died in the Nov 2007 crash in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford.
