Harrington puts $2m jet on sale
The triple Major winner, 41, left the 1986 Gulfstream III in the US in August after competing in the $10m FedEx Cup playoffs.
Harrington bought the plane towards the end of 2010 and racked up over 400 hours in the air as he jetted all around the world.
But while the jetset days coincided with a nosedive in the Dubliner’s career — he hasn’t won in Europe or the US since 2008 — industry experts say he could still make a profit on the sale thanks to an upturn in the market.
The 13-passenger jet is a top-of-the-range model but the real expense is the huge service costs, which include maintenance, fuel, and airport fees.
Premier Executive Jets, located at Weston Airport in Leixlip, has advertised the jet for sale, describing it as “snow white with navy blue and red velvet stripes” and “matterhorn white wheel wells”.
It’s fitted with five single cabin seats “in cappuccino leather”, two double club seats, and a four-seater divan that doubles as a bed.
The interior features cream leather, suede, and wool carpets in “camel and blue” as well as “new, richly detailed, high-gloss teak woodwork”.
The plane has a DVD player and VCR, a sound system, two flatscreen monitors, satellite internet, a convection oven, a coffee maker, and dual eight-man life rafts.
Harrington is in Bermuda for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf today and tomorrow.
