A committee of senior ministers set up to inject urgency into the handling of the mortgage crisis has not met for more than three months, despite problems deepening for struggling homeowners.

The cabinet committee on mortgage arrears, chaired by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and including Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore, has not met since Jul 19 and is scheduled to meet again in November.

Mr Kenny announced the establishment of the committee at his party’s árd fheis last March because he was “frustrated that we haven’t been able to move as fast as we wanted to, totackle the mortgage crisis”.
