Motorists were ‘blinded’ by parked car’s lights

Two motorists were blinded by the lights of a car parked near a bend on the side of a country road which resulted in a three-car crash that claimed the life of an 80-year-old man who was standing alongside the parked car, a court has heard.

Mary Meade, aged 70 of Lissard, Galbally, has pleaded not guilty at Limerick Circuit Court to parking a car in a dangerous manner and creating substantial risk of injury.

The alleged offence occurred at Ballyfuta, Ballylanders, Co Limerick, when Ms Meade stopped to visit the Corbett family on Nov 26, 2010.
