Extradition request pending for stab suspect also wanted over mother’s death

A man wanted for questioning over the death of his Irish mother has been remanded in custody by a Spanish judge, after another woman was stabbed to death in Barcelona.

The 28-year-old appeared before an investigating judge on Monday afternoon in connection with the weekend killing of a 35-year-old woman.

He was sent to a nearby jail after the closed hearing. Court officials said they expect to receive details of an extradition request within the next few days from the Central Criminal Court in Madrid.
