Talks on transfer of primary care powers to White

Labour says it will “discuss” with coalition partners Fine Gael whether Alex White should be delegated statutory power for primary care.

Tánaiste and Labour leader Éamon Gilmore has nominated Mr White to replace Róisín Shortall at the Department of Health.

Ms Shortall’s title had been minister of state with responsibility for primary care. But statutory power for primary care was never actually transferred to her.
