Farming crossword

Yesterday’s edition of the Irish Examiner’s Farming crossword had a reference to Nevin Spence, who died along with his father and brother in a farm tragedy at the weekend.

The reference to the late Mr Spence in this context was ill-judged and insensitive, and should not have been published. The Farming quiz is supplied by a third party, but the reference in question should never have got through our editing processes.

My sincere apologies have been extended to the Spence family, and to others offended by this regrettable publication.
