New EU rules forcing insurers to stop discriminating against young male drivers are behind a “Big Brother”-style anti-speeding device being offered by one of the country’s leading firms.

From December, EU-based motor insurance firms will be unable to give preferential discounts to female drivers who are traditionally considered less likely to have car incidents.

The law means the generally higher premium rates young male drivers face due to their age and sex rather than their personal history will no longer be allowed.
