The number of child road deaths has fell by almost 80% over the 13-year period to 2010.

The Road Safety Authority’s report on child casualties also shows that child passenger fatalities fell by 82% over the same period.

Between 1997 and 2010, 252 children were killed and 1,059 seriously injured on Irish roads.
