3,000 register for grant since weekend

More than 3,000 students have registered to apply for student grants since the weekend as numbers accepting college places near 30,000.

Ahead of Monday’s offering of nearly 50,000 college places by the CAO, the new online grant system for first-time applicants had received just under 40,000 applications.

Student Universal Support Ireland (Susi) also had 14,267 applications started on its website but not fully completed by last Friday.
