190 million reasons to do EuroMillions
The record-breaking jackpot has been rolling to the massive amount since Friday, Jun 22.
If no ticket holder matches the five numbers and two lucky stars, the entire prize fund will flow down to the next winning tier. Many people could become very rich overnight as the jackpot is likely to be shared if it moves down to the lower level.
The jackpot was capped at €185m in July last year.
Just before the final draw when the jackpot was won, one lucky ticket holder in Ireland matched five numbers and one star, winning over €4.5m. The Irish ticket was bought by a Dublin winner in Doran’s, Drumfinn Park in Ballyfermot.
Chris and Colin Weir from Ayrshire, Scotland, won the entire jackpot a few days later.
In the same draw, however, a ticket holder in Ireland, who had five matched numbers and one lucky star, won over €2.4m. The ticket was bought in Dunnes Stores, City West, Dublin.
The Euromillions jackpot has reached its cap several times before.
The jackpot had rolled over 14 times to reach its maximum of €185m when the Weirs won it last year. The couple recently donated some of their winnings to buy a new prosthetic limb for a teenager who carried the Olympic torch after losing a leg to cancer.
The couple, who are Britain’s biggest lottery winners, said they felt privileged to be able to help after being contacted by the grandmother of one of boy’s friends, who lives in North Ayrshire.
They said the biggest change in their lives was that they could support causes close to their hearts in a meaningful way.
The EuroMillions jackpot cap was increased to €190m in February.
Tickets for tonight’s draw should purchased before 7.30pm.
