Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has called for the media to be governed by privacy laws in order to better protect the public.

He also spoke about excessive dominance of the media and said Ireland did not need an “Irish Rupert Murdoch”.

Mr Varadkar claimed the public were starting to lose trust in the Irish media, and criticised the coverage of certain issues.
