Double Olympic win to be honoured

Dual Olympic gold medal winner, the late Dr Pat O’Callaghan will be remembered in his native Dromtarriffe, Co Cork, this Sunday as part of the Discover Duhallow — A Day in the Region festivities.

The event will mark the 80th anniversary of Dr Pat’s second gold medal triumph for hammer throwing at the Los Angeles games, in 1932. He won the first at the 1928 Amsterdam games.

A hammer throwing competition will form part of a family fun day organised by Dromtarriffe Hall Committee.
