Gilmore furious with Reilly over HSE resignation

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has made clear his displeasure with Health Minister James Reilly over the lack of communication surrounding the imminent departure of HSE boss Cathal Magee.

Despite the Cabinet discussing the shake-up of the HSE at its meeting on Tuesday, Dr Reilly failed to inform ministers of Mr Magee’s intention to resign.

The Taoiseach was informed after the Cabinet meeting, but Dr Reilly failed to tell the Tánaiste, leaving Labour to learn of Mr Magee’s plans from the media.
