The number of foreign nationals living here is dropping very fast, according to the latest figures.

Five years ago, Ireland had the second-highest percentage of foreigners in the EU as workers flocked here during the boom.

But in the last few years the figure has been falling dramatically. In 2009, more than 11% of the population were not Irish-born — the fifth highest percentage in the EU.
