Dublin and the South-East are the only parts of the country to see anything near a real halt in the plummeting price of property, analysis suggests.

The market in the South-East shows strong signs of a possible reprieve, with home prices in Carlow up almost 10% from March to June, asking prices in Kilkenny up 2.3%, and in Waterford City up 0.7%.

In its latest report on prices, property website Daft.ie says they fell 2.6% in the second quarter of 2012, the second-lowest drop in four years. Average asking price is €172,000, against €366,000 at the peak in 2007, based on its listings.
