Teens get Fred to play free mental health gig

Cork band Fred will headline the Think Big Gig in Connolly’s of Leap on Saturday, July 14, organised for their peers by Schull Community College students, Ethan Lawlor and Ryan Crowley, both aged 17.

Ryan said music is a huge part of teenagers’ lives and he and Ethan wanted to reflect that in their project.

Ethan said: “Music has such a massive impact on your life, no matter what mood you’re in there’s a song that will reflect and affect it.

“We want to put everyone in a good mood on the day and I think we can achieve that with the fantastic line up we have.”

Think Big is a joint initiative set up by O2 and Headstrong which enables young people to complete projects which positively impact on the mental health of other young people in their area.

The Think Big Gig will take place on Jul 14 in Connolly’s of Leap in West Cork with Fred and up-and-coming band The B-Positives confirmed.
