Polish canal body confirmed as missing Irish soccer fan

The family of an Irish soccer fan missing since Sunday flew to Poland last night as it was confirmed that the body pulled from a canal there was their loved one.

Yesterday morning police divers found James Nolan's body about 200m from where the 21-year-old went missing in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz.

Documentation, including a credit card belonging to the young man was found on the body. That documentation, as well as a sum of money and the lack of any injury, has led investigators to believe he was not the victim of a robbery which turned violent. An autopsy is expected to be carried out today.
