The Rape Crisis Network of Ireland has raised concerns about previously unknown sections of the Spent Convictions Bill 2012 and will make representations to Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

The Irish Examiner has established that certain sex offenders will be able to avail of provisions in the bill, which is aimed at reintegrating offenders back into society, particularly through employment, which is often blocked by having a criminal record.
