Jengelbert: Eurovision fringe supergroup

Jedward and Engelbert Humperdinck came face to face yesterday — and immediately formed a mutual admiration society.

Jengelbert: Eurovision fringe supergroup

The pair, who will be number 23 out of 26 acts on Saturday night’s Eurovision final, held a joint press conference with Humperdinck, and even joked about them forming a new supergroup together.

Engelbert, who is on first this Saturday representing Britain, praised the twins’ hair, while they in turn were in awe of his sideburns. Wearing plenty of bling, the crooner had some trouble in understanding the twin’s speech — at one point asking them if they were speaking English.

John stated: “Engelbert is really cool. Everyone in Ireland should vote for him. He’s our new favourite.” And ageing star Engelbert revealed how women still throw their underwear at him onstage. “It still gives me a thrill, but very few of them fit me! You know I pick them up off the stage and some of them are still warm.”

The Grimes twins also revealed how they had hardly any sleep after qualifying for the final on Tuesday night. Edward said: “We stayed up most of the night celebrating and didn’t even have breakfast. After this we’re going to look for some sushi in a shopping centre.”

They missed an interview on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, forcing mentor Linda Martin to take their place. She revealed how they went onstage with flat hair because some of the other acts were copying their spiked-up hair, which is now known in Baku as “Viagra hair”.
