In a nail-biting finish, it looked like the Lucan lads weren’t going to get through.

Of the 18 acts performing only ten could move on to the final.

With nine acts — in no particular order — given their golden ticket, there was tension in the air as to whether Jedward would take the 10th and final spot.

A huge roar went up from the crowd — and from commentator Marty Whelan — as Jedward were unveiled as finalist number 10 in Baku, Azerbaijan. !

The twins, who had performed with flat hair for once, jumped for joy — as their shaggy blonde manes shook with excitement.

They had given a lively and exciting performance, of the song ‘Waterline’ against the backdrop of a spectacular fountain.

Yesterday, Jedward suffered a wardrobe malfunction when the trousers of one of their exotic stage suits — which mentor Linda Martin had been drying on her hotel balcony — fell off and disappeared.

The clothes had been soaked from the dress rehearsal in the Crystal Hall on Monday night.

Linda went into a panic when she discovered part of the suit was missing.

A hotel staff member later found the trousers and returned them.

John and Edward’s dad John also arrived in Baku yesterday to cheer them on. Their mum Susanna was already there.

Edward said: “It’s really cool having our mom and dad out here with us. Our brother Kevin had to stay home and look after the dogs.”

Speaking before last night’s semi-final, the optimistic duo revealed: “It’s a really big deal that we make it out of the semi-final and move on.

They said they were “totally focused” for all their rehearsals.
