Town establishes an ideal bartering system for the times we’re in

It’s a bartering system ideally suited for the economic times we’re in — a free exchange of labour or skills between people.

The idea, which is likely to be copied by communities around the country, is the brainchild of Clonakilty Favour Exchange and will be officially launched today in the town’s O’Donovan’s Hotel by well-known economist Constantin Gurdgiev.

According to the organisers, goodwill is the only requirement for membership. Already, a significant number of people have signed up and organisers expect even more to join the voluntary service in the days and weeks to come.
