RTÉ agrees series of political debates

A series of television debates involving senior party members on the upcoming EU treaty have been agreed by RTÉ but the Late Late Show will not be hosting any organised tête-à-tête among political leaders.

The station’s Frontline show has also pulled back from hosting its leaders debate too close to polling day. This follows the Frontline “tweet” debacle during last year’s presidential election.

Station bosses met with programme chiefs yesterday and agreed a provisional draft for coverage on the treaty in the coming weeks.
