Proclamation auctioned off for €124k
The lot, described by Adams Auctioneers as “an original copy of the foundation document of modern Irish nationhood” had gone under the hammer with a guide price of €60,000-€80,000 but sold to a private bidder for €124,000.
It had been preserved by a Co Longford family “with Republican affiliations”. Original copies of the Proclamation have always been scarce, according to Adams Auctioneers.
